Meets

Several people have asked which meet they should attend Flag City in Findlay, Ohio or the Summer Jam in Fishers, Indiana (Indianapolis). The Summer Jam is indoors and will be more comfortable for our younger swimmers (Silver 1, 8 & under).  Our 9-10 swimmers can pick either meet or do both (both meets are timed finals for this age group).  We would like our 11 & overs to swim both meets.  Swimmers will be entered int heir best events at the Summer Jam. At Flag City, they will be entered into events that they do not normally try, or in their best stroke but a different distance.  This will give our swimmers the opportunity to grow their events list and abilities.  This also keeps their best events 'fresh' for the Summer Jam.

Peppe vs. Regionals
The other popular question is which meet to swim -Mike Peppe or Regionals.   Here's the entry guide:

  • If you are swimming Ohio JO's and not Regioanls, enter Peppe if you would like.
  • If you are swimming Regionals but Not Ohio JO's, DO NOT enter Peppe.
  • If you are swimming just a couple of events at JO's you need to CHOOSE which meet you will make your last chance to pick up more JO cuts: Peppe or Regionals.   Do not do both.  That would be 3 major meets (plus summer league meets) in 3 weeks.  By the time JO's rolls around, things get a little tired and ugly.

Team T-shirt Orders

Parents you may order a t-shirt for yourself by reply email with your size.  They are $10 for parents (we already have swimmers sizes and there is no charge for swimmers tees) So! Yours truly has finally gotten it together and figured out a t-shirt for the season.  I was having extreme difficulty settling on something that captured how I felt about all the greatness going on in our program and the amazing loyalty we have from our families.  Finally we have something - it is at the printer and should be to us in a week or so.  They will not begin printing until next week, so parents can order shirts (kids get them as part of your fees).  Just let me know what size you want, payment is due to the boosters on receipt of the shirt.  This is a white 100% cotton pre-shrunk t-shirt with "Buckeye Proud" on the back and our team logo on the front left chest.   Orders are due Tuesday morning.

Oh What a Year! 2020 in Review

January 2020 We started the year with a bang. Zach Ward traveled to Knoxville to compete in a TYR Pro Series meet. This was a long course meter meet at which Zach swam personal bests in the 200 fly and 400 IM and he lowered team records in both events. February 2020 February brought the start of our swimmer's Championship season, starting with the High School Championship series. Ben Dunham placed top 16 in the Division 2 state meet! Regionals were held at OSU and coach Laurie did a pushup for each second dropped (lots and lots of pushups)! The Junior and Seniors went to Auburn, Alabama with the Bobcats and 98% of all swimmers achieved personal best times! March 2020 Our littlest swimmers attended the Mini Meet which ended up being our last big meet for some time. Our 8-unders loved the treats and trophies given to each swimmer. 13 swimmers qualified and trained for Junior Olympics while our seniors prepared for Sectionals. It all came to a halt on March 13.
