Spring & Summer fees for Silver and Scarlet will be invoiced next week.  We are currently reviewing our invoicing process to make sure we are utilizing the most efficient and most secure processing system available to our budget. Once that review is finished invoices will be published and emailed to each family.   Spring fees (or 1/2 of your combined spring summer fees) will be due by April 24.  The remainder of your summer fees will be due June 9.  If you would like to break your fees into smaller payments, please email.

February Swimmers of the Meet

What an absolutely fantastic February of swimming our Buckeyes put together.  We had a lot of racing with our 14-unders at the Dayton Raiders & Regional Championships and our High School swimmers finishing the school season with Sectionals, Districts and States!

Our Age Group swimmers kicked off the month by traveling to our favorite hosts, Dayton Raiders.  The single age meet is a great confidence builder with many of our swimmers qualifying for finals.  We were super proud of our swimmers efforts in the pool and their terrific support of each other throughout the week-end.  two swimmer stood our with BIG meets. First, Elena Benz, age 8, competed in her first 100 free, 50 breast and 50 fly AND earned best times in the 50 free, 50 back and 100 IM.  This is Elena's first winter of swimming, and she has come a long way from her first meet this past fall. Way to go Elena!  Next, Wyatt Hanley, age 11,  had a HUGE meet with best times in 7 of his 8 swims and and finals in all swims.  What we loved most about Wyatt's meet was his attention to his coaching.  He really focused on the details & then finished each race asking for more improvements in his technique.  Way to go Wyatt!!

The Age Group swimmers closed the month with a fabulous Regional Championship meet.  21 of our swimmers walked away from the meet with a full slate of best times!  We also finished the meet as the team with the highest percentage (71%) of best times, crushing all of our competition by a wide margin!!  In the end we chose four of our many stand out swimmers to receive swimmer of the meet recognition:
Ashley Sallows, age 12,  picked up six new JO cuts time in all & finaled in all 7 of her events. Her swims included huge drops in the 200 back (17 seconds), 200 free (4 seconds), 50 back (2 seconds) and 100 fly (2 seconds).  Congratulations Ashley!
Jacy Mox, age 14, had a great meet with a full slate of best times, finals in both backstrokes and a 20 second drop in the 500!  Jacy is also a terrific team leader, providing a calm voice of 'maturity' to our energetic Scarlet group. WTG JACY!!
Thaine Nederveld, age 13, put together a fantastic meet with drops & finals in all of his races.  His standout swim was by far his MILE, with impressively steady splits and a full MINUTE drop.  Way to go Thaine!
Sam Evers, age 13,  had a huge leap in his training just before Regionals and it paid off in a full slate of best times and two finals swims.  His focus on his own swimming was terrific, utilizing race strategy and technique to his advantage.  We are very proud of you Sam, congratulations!!

High School Wrap Up

Members of the Senior group completed a very successful high school season with ALL swimmers achieving best times in their Sectional and District events.  Buckeye is also celebrating the success of two of our athletes who qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Swimming Tournament.

Elizabeth Intihar qualified for her first State Championship in the 500 Freestyle, placing 19th in the Division I Girl’s Tournament.  Elizabeth also lowered her team record in the event with a 5:02.43 at the Central District Tournament where she also lowered another of her team records in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:54.02.

Jeremy Baggs qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament in both the 200 IM and 500 Freestyle.  Jeremy placed 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.06 (1:58.70p) and 19th in the 500 Freestyle with a best time of 5:54.92.

Both Jeremy and Elizabeth join Logan Indest as qualifiers for the USA Swimming Central Zone Sectional Championships to be held in Indianapolis, IN at the end of March.

We would like to congratulate all of our high school swimmers on an amazing and successful season!

Spring & Summer Information

Buckeye Swim Club
Spring & Summer 2017 Practice Schedule and Fees

Hi Buckeyes!
Our spring & summer information is now available.  This includes the spring schedule, group & fee information.  The summer schedule is still being finalized but will be similar to last summer.
We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a one year agreement with the Sports Club for continued use of their facilities.  We continue to keep conversations open with MC Fitness although they have moved to a 12& over rental platform.
Our group system remains largely intact, with further delineation within each program.  This will help us give each swimmer the best training they need for their interests, age, and abilities.  Group recommendations were emailed through the Active Portal.
Note: Scarlet, Junior & Senior groups are competitive training programs with a focus on succeeding in USA Swimming competitions.  These groups are a spring AND summer commitment with an expectation that swimmers will compete in meets.
Our Silver program has less emphasis on competition and more emphasis on developing technique.  Thus, swimmers in the silver group can sign up for spring OR summer OR both.
Respond by March 15 please!
Returning swimmers simply email with your interest in continuing with the club.  There is no registration fee for spring or summer.

Please feel free to call or email if you have questions or concerns.

Our Summer Competitive Season is April 16 to July 23, 2017
Spring Training ends June 2, 2017

All practices are at Columbus North Sports Club (888 E. Dublin Granville Rd) unless otherwise noted.

We support student athletes in the sport of competitive swimming by developing the character traits, technical skills and intense desire necessary for maximum realization of each individual's potential. Buckeye provides a fun & challenging, team-building experience. BKYS recognizes the contribution of all its members and strives to maintain athletic excellence in a supportive team environment.
