Have your strokes analyzed by Missy Franklin's coach!

Hello Swim Families! Fitter and Faster is coming to Columbus for an Elite Video Filming and Analysis Day at the Columbus School for Girls on April 20th! At this event, each swimmer’s stroke will be filmed with high quality cameras both above and below the water. Then the video will be analyzed with voice over and graphics on the actual video by Olympic Coach Todd Schmitz . Schmitz has coached six swimmers to Olympic teams – including Olympic superstar Missy Franklin from the time she was 9-years old through the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Swimmers can have one, two, or ALL FOUR strokes analyzed! Each participant will also receive one free month of Swim Videos on Demand! We strongly recommend all of our swimmers take advantage of this incredible opportunity and share the video with their coach as well! Pictures Needed

Our Instagram project is now well underway and is receiving a lot of positive feedback. Please help us by participating. Simply send in a picture of your swimmer with their answer to one question within each of the two following sets of questions: 1) What was your favorite moment this season? What do you like best about Buckeye? What is their favorite part of going to part of practice? 2) what is their favorite meet food? Favorite animal? Favorite thing to do besides swimming? You may email Laurie at laurie@bkyswim.com Thanks!

Spring and Summer packet is now available

The Spring and Summer packet has been uploaded to our website. You can download it here The biggest change in schedule is to Scarlet 1.  We would like to challenge this groups with training that is similar to the Scarlet 2 group.  Some of their practices have been moved to align with Scarlet 2 training times.  We have no large move ups planned at this time, but will speak to individuals over the break about ways to enhance their training or if we believe it is time to move up. The pool was scheduled to be repaired again the week of April 1.  They have bumped this schedule up and will try to complete the repairs in March.  This will allow our senior program back into the sports club April 1.  If they cannot complete the repairs the senior program will rent elsewhere.

Slack Best Practices

First, thank you to everyone for adopting Slack so readily and providing feedback for what you do and do not like about the app.  We still have a lot to learn about how to best use it and your feedback is helping tremendously. The first responses we received was a desire to keep important announcements in one place.  To do this we changed the name of the #general folder to #team-announcements.  The only things posted there should be time sensitive information that the entire team needs.  Please adhere to this, so that everyone keeps their notifications on for this channel. We have the following additional channels to help communicate with smaller groups of people. Group Channels #Scarlet (Scarlet 1, 2, 3 & Gold), #Silver (Silver Comp, Rec and Intro) & #Senior (Senior, Junior & NPG).  These channels will auto pull the practice schedule off our team calendar each week.  It is a long pull, but easy to scroll right on past if you aren't interested in reading it.  Thes

Everyone Swims

Everyone can swim a championship meet!  It is a great way to celebrate a long season of hard work and dedication.  Here is your Championship season guide: Regionals, February 22-24: for swimmers age 9-14.  Do not need to have prior event experience. Cannot be faster than JO cut in an event you wish to swim.  The meet is held at Ohio State.  There are three Regional meets in Columbus, making each meet a reasonable size and not too overwhelming.  Each day holds preliminary competition in the morning (including Friday).  The fastest 16 swimmers from preliminaries swim at night in the Finals.  SOME events are timed final, meaning you only have one opportunity to swim the event, with the fastest entries automatically advancing to finals.  * and younger swimmers can swim, but it is not recommended unless the swimmer is interested in longer events. Mini Meet, March 2-3:   This is a meet just for 8-unders!  It is held at Worthington and separates the kids into 3 age groups: 6-under, 7 an

Welcome Back!

We are thrilled to have everyone back from the holidays!  We hope everyone had a great break filled with family and swimming :) We have some minor changes to the practice schedule this winter which affects all groups except Senior/Junior/NPG.  These changes are based on when we have the most available coaching for our younger swimmers, which will help us hone our focus on technique and speed headed into Championships.  We are 7 weeks from Regionals! Our adjustments are detailed in our team practice calendar which is on our website (always click more to get a better view of the week ahead) and have been updated on the info pdf. These changes put the majority of our swimmers at times when we have two or more coaches on deck.  A summary of the changes: Mondays - no change Tuesdays - Scarlet 1 moves to 7-8:30, no Silver Comp,no Silver Rec,  no Scarlet 3, no change to Scarlet 2 and Gold. Weds - Scarlet 1 and Silver Comp at 5:45, Scarlet 2 at 6:15 for a longer dry land, Intro at 6:
