The season is nearly over!

With Regional Champs only 5 weeks away, we are very close to the end of our 2017-18 season.  The best way to realize your time and effort at practice this winter is by heading to a meet to find out how much faster your are! All swimmers in all groups should be signing up for meets at this point as follows:

Senior: Auburn
Junior (in HS): Auburn
Junior (in MS): Regional's and/or JO's
Scarlet: Regional's and/or JO's
SILVER (age 9-14) Regional's (all swimmers are eligible)
SILVER (age 8-un): Mini Meet
INTRO (age 9-10): Regional's
INTRO (age 8-under): Mini Meet

The following events are now available on Active: Regional's, Auburn and the Elite Showcase
Mini Meet sign ups are expected within the next week.

Regional meet reminder: Friday events are in the morning (during school).  While we believe school comes before swimming, there are a lot of teachers that will make special recognition of swimmers that are headed to this meet on this day.  This recognition tends to fill our swimmers with pride and helps validate their efforts at practice!

Fundraising with City Barbeque!
Thank you for choosing to fundraise with City Barbeque! Here are a few ground rules to remind you
of how our program works:
•     City Barbeque holds fundraising events for non-profit organizations only. We’ll need your
group’s current tax ID number in order to schedule your event.
•     For you to receive credit for a sale, a guest must turn in a copy of your group’s flyer or
show the cashier your online fundraiser barcode from his or her mobile device when making a
purchase.
•     You may not pass out or distribute flyers on City Barbeque property.
•     In order to receive your percentage of the proceeds from your group’s eligible sales, your
total fundraising proceeds must be $25 or more—City Barbeque can’t issue donation checks for less
than $25 due to administrative costs. Checks will be mailed out within three weeks of your
fundraiser.
•     The percentage of sales you will receive is based on food, beverage, and bottled sauce sales.
Gift card or tee shirt purchases are not included in this total, nor is sales tax.

Here are some tips on promoting your fundraiser:
•     Print the flyer and distribute to your friends, family, colleagues, etc.
•     Email the flyer to your contacts—we’ve provided it in both JPEG and PDF formats, so you can
either insert the JPEG as an image in the body of your email or can attach the PDF flyer, asking
them to print and distribute.
•     Utilize social media! We’ve provided images for you to use online to get the word out. These
images do not have specific information about your fundraising day, just the address of the
restaurant, so be sure to include those details in the text of your post. Remember to always
include the date of your fundraiser when communicating it out to your friends!
A few example social media posts for you:
•     XYZ Organization is having a Fundraiser on XYZ date! Come out and show your support while
enjoying some ‘que, and we will get 25% of the sales back!
•     XYZ Organization is having a Fundraiser on XYZ date! All you have to do is eat BBQ, and we
get 25% back.
•     XYZ Organization is having a Fundraiser at City Barbeque! Be sure to scan the barcode on XYZ
date and we will receive 25% back!
•     Come out for our fundraiser on XYZ date. Please share this post with your friends!

Travel Meet Opportunities

Auburn Classic, Auburn University, March 2-4
The format is Prelim/Finals for 11 and overs with top 16 11-12, top 16 13-14 and top 24 seniors swimming in finals.  All 10 and under events are timed finals swum in the morning.  There are no qualifying time standards for this meet.

Senior Team Travel: Senior group swimmers have the opportunity to travel with Coach Lew to this meet.  The seniors have been traveling to this meet for several years and have enjoyed many successes.  Lew will touch base with the eligible swimmers regarding this meet.

Age Group Travel:  Swimmers not in high school and age 9-14 may travel to and compete at this meet in one of two ways. (1) arrange travel on own, Lew will coach the swimmers in attendance (should the meet grow enough to warrant an afternoon session for younger swimmers, Laurie will attend).
(2) Travel with Coach Laurie.  In this arrangement, Coach Laurie will fly with your swimmers and transport them to the meet. She will supervise the swimmers at all time, arranging meals, hotel, etc.  A minimum of 4 swimmers are needed for this option.

Action needed: If you are a parent of an age group swimmer, please touch base with Coach Laurie if you’d like to attend and which travel method you will use.

Elite Showcase Classic
North Shore Aquatic Complex
901 N Shore Dr NE
St Petersburg, Florida 33701
March 28-31st, 2018
This is a single age championship meet for swimmers age 14-under in the Eastern half of the US.  It has grown to about 1000 swimmers with amazing talent.  We have seen National Age Group records broken at this meet and future National Teamer’s compete.  It is a fun and challenging experience.  Swimmers of an odd age (9, 11, 13) qualify with National AA times, swimmers of an even age (10, 12, 14) qualify with National AAA times.  Coach Laurie will need to hear from you by February 4 if you would like to attend.  It’s a great family trip, however, we are happy to travel swimmers to the meet if cost is a factor.

Last Ditch Entries

We made a slight error in the entry deadline for the GCSTO Last Ditch.  We need all entry declarations completed by tonight!  We have resent all invitations and will finalize everyone's entries on Thursday. This meet opens its entries for teams on noon this Friday.  Reminder that we are only swimming Saturday and Sunday, please do not sign up for Friday events.
