September 17, 2017 - Parent Meeting/Suit Fitting

September - Fall Board Meeting – CONFIRM
Booster Club quarterly business meeting; Election of 2017-18 Booster Club Executive Board 

September - Fall Apparel Sale – CONFIRM

October 1, 2017 - Fall Team Activity (Lehner’s Pumpkin Farm) – CONFIRM
Boosters will pay for swimmer wristbands, provide meat, plates, silverware.  Parents asked to bring side dish to share and beverages.

October 6-8, 2017 - Dayton Meet (Silver 1, Scarlet, Junior, Senior)

October 21-22, 2017 - Worthington Meet (Silver, Scarlet, Junior, Senior)

October 2017 - Butterbraid Fundraiser – CONFIRM
To be delivered before Thanksgiving.

November/December 2017 - Buckeye 200 Swim-a-thon
Major Fall/Winter Fundraiser - CONFIRM

November 3-5, 2017 - Golden Bear Meet (Silver, Scarlet, Junior, Senior)

November 11, 2017 - Dublin and Worthington Tri-Meet (Silver)

November 12, 2017 - OSSC Thanks for Giving Meet (Scarlet)

November 17-19, 2017 - Ohio Senior Meet (High School or Older)

December 1 or 2, 2017 - Team Holiday Event – CONFIRM

December 8-10, 2017 - MAKOS Holiday Invite (9 & overs only, prelims/finals)

December 2017 - Winter Board Meeting - CONFIRM

December 15-17, 2017 - GCSTO Holiday, Ohio Virtual Dist. (Silver/Scarlet Dist.; All Scarlet)

January 6-7, 2018 - Triple Crown (Silver & Scarlet)

January 20-21 or January 27-28, 2018 - OSSC IMX Challenge (No 8 and under)- MEET CANCELLED

February 2-4, 2018 - DR Swim Your Own Age (Silver & Scarlet)

February 11, 2018 – New Albany Kicker Classic (8 & under only)

February 22, 2018 - Regional Pasta Party (Columbus North) – After practice

February 23-25, 2018 - Central Regional Champs (Silver, Scarlet, Junior, 8 & under one day)

March 2018 - Spring Board Meeting - CONFIRM

March 2-4, 2018 - Auburn Classic (9 & Over team travel meet)

March 3-4, 2018 - Mini Meet (8 & under only)

March 16-18, 2018 - Ohio Age Group SC Champs (Must have Ohio JO time standard)

The Pollock Family has donated about 60 t-shirts sporting the new team logo to our Booster Club. The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes. Each family will have their chance to pick ONE shirt on Monday or Tuesday at practice. On Wednesday, any shirts remaining will be available to anyone. A donation to the booster club for your shirt is optional. The kids are now receiving their team t-shirts that were made exclusively for kids and coaches. Kast-A-Way has not yet printed our red t-shirts, if you would like to order one I suggest you call today. These shirts are being printed on a light weight t-shirt from Sport Tek.

Coach of the Year

Dear Coach, Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are writing today on behalf of the upcoming feature film COACH OF THE YEAR: an independent, kid-friendly sports comedy feature film based on the inspiring true story of a rag tag swim team that tries to win a state championship…without a pool to practice in. Director Dave Stott, who has coached swimming for twenty years, hopes that with this film, we will entertain and inspire kids all over the country to learn to swim. Another goal of this film is to raise awareness about drowning as the leading cause of accidental deaths and to help kids all over the country learn to swim safely. The underdog story has been told before, but not for our sport. This is a movie for swimmers (and would-be swimmers), made by people who know the sport intimately and love it passionately, and we’d love for you to be involved. Is my child ready to swim meets?

We had a coaches discussion on this  - and yes, all of our Elite group swimmers are ready for meets.  Please look at the meet calendar and sign up for the days that you are available.  We will pick events that are appropriate for your swimmer.  We pick events that your child can do well and will build their confidence.  We also believe strongly in placing your child in events that will challenge them.  While we strive for excellence, making a mistake in an event is OK and can be a great learning experience.  Trying and failing is teaches a lot more  about your abilities than not trying at all.
