2018 OH OSSC SC Regional Championships

The psych sheet and the tentative timeline are posted on our website. Also attached is a draft of the warm-up assignments. If you have any concerns with these assignments, please let me know by 8 a.m. Monday.

Warmup and Overview of Session Times
Timeline information is outlined in the warm-up assignment document. As a reminder the varsity team has scheduled use of the pool on Sunday for their varsity last chance NCAA qualifier which is why we must work our sessions around them. Our Sunday morning session will start at 7:15 a.m. rather than 9:15 a.m. as on Friday and Saturday. All finals timelines are the same though if the varsity meet were to run long we will shift back accordingly. I don't expect this to be an issue though.

1650 Freestyle
To ensure that we wrap up Sunday prelims and time trials in time, all 1650s will be swum with finals. We will swim those fastest to slowest alternating girls and boys (there are only three total heats, 2 girls and 1 boys).

Split Timed Finals Events
It is important to pay attention to timed finals events that have the fastest heat or two swimming at night. It is important to help those swimmers know when they are swimming since some events don't have any swimmers at prelims. I don't want there to be any confusion for those swimmers on the event day.

Volunteer Timers & Officials
If you have parents who are willing to help time, we would appreciate having their assistance. Please have them check in at the head table upon their arrival. If they would like to sign up in advance please have them email me at mccorkle@osu.edu. Anyone who is able to officiate should contact meet referee David Short at dshort0813@att.net.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Christine

Extra T-Shirts

The Pollock Family has donated about 60 t-shirts sporting the new team logo to our Booster Club. The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes. Each family will have their chance to pick ONE shirt on Monday or Tuesday at practice. On Wednesday, any shirts remaining will be available to anyone. A donation to the booster club for your shirt is optional. The kids are now receiving their team t-shirts that were made exclusively for kids and coaches. Kast-A-Way has not yet printed our red t-shirts, if you would like to order one I suggest you call today. These shirts are being printed on a light weight t-shirt from Sport Tek.

Coach of the Year

Dear Coach, Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are writing today on behalf of the upcoming feature film COACH OF THE YEAR: an independent, kid-friendly sports comedy feature film based on the inspiring true story of a rag tag swim team that tries to win a state championship…without a pool to practice in. Director Dave Stott, who has coached swimming for twenty years, hopes that with this film, we will entertain and inspire kids all over the country to learn to swim. Another goal of this film is to raise awareness about drowning as the leading cause of accidental deaths and to help kids all over the country learn to swim safely. The underdog story has been told before, but not for our sport. This is a movie for swimmers (and would-be swimmers), made by people who know the sport intimately and love it passionately, and we’d love for you to be involved. We wanted to ask you and your team to help spread the word about COACH OF THE YEAR, and get you & you...
