Parents To Do List

Find video of Missy Franklin's post backstroke interview from last night.  Notice what she says, share it with your kids.  No matter how fast you are (or how good you are at your job) you are always better at something that you enjoy doing.  The coaching staff works hard to impart this bit of wisdom to your children. There is even a Chinese athlete out there stating that her swim would have been faster if her country would learn how to have fun like the Australians. I believe this quote is from their butterflyer that trains part time in Australia.   Sign up for the Splash Bash. We've got a $10 per person budget for this event and are asking for $5 per swimmer to pay for half the costs.  It's minimal compared to the great time everyone will have this Friday. Bring a friend or two along too! We've got prizes donated by USA Swimming, pool games to play, contest giveaways and live streaming of the FINALS swimming events for that day.  We'll feed you, entertain you an

2012-2013 information will be released shortly

We have finished the 2012-2013 team information and have put together a schedule for starting our season at Columbus North.  We are hopeful the pool can move at a very quick pace so that we can move programs there sometime during the season.  Once we move into the new facility we will schedule most of our groups in the 5 to 7:30 time range. We will be sending emails out with group assignments and registration information ASAP. Registration will be online, suing the same system we have used for meets this summer.

Buckeye Earns Runner Up Honors at Ohio Age Group Champs

Our Buckeyes finished in 2nd place in the small team division at the Ohio Long Course Age Group Championships this past week-end.  The small team division is determined on July 1st each summer and is based on the number of 9-14 year old swimmers on our team roster.  Kudos to our swimmers and coaching staff for working hard and pushing each other to excel! You've made the Buckeye family proud! This past winter we were able to qualify about a third of our 9-14 year old team to this meet.  This summer we took 10 of our qualifiers to the meet. A special congratulations to our participants: Grace Butcher, Lauren Ertz, Natalie Hegg, Bobbi Indest, Rachel Raque, Macey Swearingen, Graham Wedienhamer, Jeremy Baggs, Ellie Nebraska & Jeremy Karr.

Timers Needed

Our Senior team has agreed to provide timers for the Friday morning session of Senior meet this Friday.  However, we are short timers (we need 16 abut only 12 kids attending the meet).  If you can spend them morning in Kenyon this Friday and would like to see some fast swimming, please let us know. Kenyon has agreed to pay our boosters $350 for timing Friday morning. Each timer will receive a gray team t-short to wear during the meet (the tee is yours to keep after).  Your help is needed from approximately 8:30-approximately 1:10.

Coach of the Year

Dear Coach, Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are writing today on behalf of the upcoming feature film COACH OF THE YEAR: an independent, kid-friendly sports comedy feature film based on the inspiring true story of a rag tag swim team that tries to win a state championship…without a pool to practice in. Director Dave Stott, who has coached swimming for twenty years, hopes that with this film, we will entertain and inspire kids all over the country to learn to swim. Another goal of this film is to raise awareness about drowning as the leading cause of accidental deaths and to help kids all over the country learn to swim safely. The underdog story has been told before, but not for our sport. This is a movie for swimmers (and would-be swimmers), made by people who know the sport intimately and love it passionately, and we’d love for you to be involved. We wanted to ask you and your team to help spread the word about COACH OF THE YEAR, and get you & you

Parent Reminders

Just a few reminders to help us finish the season strong: Please be at practice ready to begin at least 5 minutes before the start of swimming.  Ready means swimmers are in their suits, have their cap and goggles in hand and have their equipment bag behind their lane. Parents, please save questions for coaches for either before or after practice.  All of our coaches stay after practice to answer questions.  Many coaches are at practice 15 minutes early. Please do not bring glass into the pool area. Please be patient with the new online entry system. We are learning the system as well, and as such there will be glitches. We continue to evaluate whether we will utilize this system in the winter season. Thank you and GO BUCKS!

Congrats Open Water Swimmers

This year we sent 7 swimmers to the Ohio Open Water Championships and had a very successful day at the beach!  Our 15-18's raced the 4k, 13-14's swam a 3k and our 10 & unders swam a 1k.  Congrats to Grace Weidenhamer and Grace Butcher on their 14th and 16th place finishes!
