Swimmers of the Meet

We certainly knocked it out of the park at the UASC meet.  We were very excited to see the kids' focus & hard work come together for a lot of terrific swimming.  The following swimmers had personal best times in each of their swims: Leah Adkins, Sophia Arnold, Samantha Blackburn, Nanami Campbell, Phillip Johnson, Amanda Jones, Samantha Jones, Jeanette Lopeman, Nicholas Mountz, Nathan Reynolds, Christopher Sabharwal, Sai Vidur Senthil Nathan, Sai Vidyud Senthil Nathan and Brody Van Frayen! Swimmer of the meet recognition was so tight that we had to calculate in practice attendance and percent of time dropped! First up from the UA meet is Brody Van Frayen!  Brody had what we like to call a 'break out' meet, making huge drops in his swims from just a few weeks prior.  Brody is a quiet listener at practice and tries very hard to apply our stroke concepts. Next, also from the UA meet is Sai Vidyud!   Sai swam his first ever 500 free (and in that race his first 200) at U

Scarlet Update #2

We are now into our winter routine and are happy to report the kids have adjusted well. We continue to be very impressed with this group and the positive attitudes they bring to the pool.  We have increased our accountability demand and they are responding very well. This is the first group Buckeye has had in a long time that has bought into the ownership of their swimming.  Excuses are dropping and smiles are picking up. Stroke Progress We hit on two very simple and very effective freestyle and backstroke drills.  The progress in free was more than obvious at the UASC meet making us very proud coaches!  The backstroke drill was added at the UA meet and is making some impact on their skills at practice.  Our next/current project is adding stress to their swimming. We are pushing them harder at practice, but asking them to hold their technique together.  If they can do this under stress, then they will find it easier to do so when pushing hard at a meet.  We will also start to r

Fall has arrived

Hey Buckeyes - we were so fortunate to have an extended fall with beautiful weather.  Now that it appears that we are nearing the end of fall and the beginning of W-----, we are reminding everyone that we have wet swimmers.  Please begin to use the main entrance to the Sports Club when arriving for, and leaving, practice. Also, now that all groups are at the same location - with some overlap in start and end times - please remind your swimmers to be respectful of the groups still in the water who need to be able to hear the coaches.  Swimmers should put their bags on the North (step) side of the pool.  Parents, we are asking that you please use the South side or deep end of the pool and not the shallow end.  The shallow end gets very crowded with swimmers, equipment, and coaches.  You are always welcome to bring your own chair to practice if you are worried that there may not be enough seating. Congratulations to all of our swimmers for some GREAT swims at our first meets of the se

Swimmer's of the Meet

Congratulations to all of our swimmers on their very successful efforts at the Worthington John Bruce meet!  The progression in just two short weeks from our Dayton meet was reremarkable.  In fact, there were so many improvements we had a hard time choosing our winners.  In the end two swimmers stood out.   Nanami Campbell had a great meet with several best times. Her hard work in practice to improve her technique and endurance has paid off with great time drops already this season.  Tyler Klein had a fantastic meet with big drops in three events.  His improved ability to focus on details at practice is starting to show in races.   Keep up the good work Buckeyes, can't wait to see everyone shine at UA!
