Putting the FUN in fundraising

First, thank you to everyone that has participated in the Micahel's Meats Fundraiser, supporting our National Team and Olympic Trial swimmers and coach.  Your outpouring of support has been such a positive light for this group!

We did have a group of people asking if they could just donate cash, which is absolutely OK.  But we also wanted to offer a fun contest for cash donations.  We have put together a fundraiser that centers around Olympic Trials to help generate excitement for trials and a bigger budget to support our team.

Materials for this fundraiser will be handed out at practice next week.

WOMEN’S & MEN'S SWIMMING
BRACKET SQUARE POOL

(June 13 – 21, 2021)

$50 per square - Win on all TOP 3 PLACES OF ALL 14 SWIMMING EVENTS (42 Winners)

How It Works:

  • There are 100 squares in a 10 x 10 grid formation, numbered 1 – 100.
  • Squares will be $50 each.
  • After all the squares have all been sold, the numbers for the tenths and hundredths places on the board will be randomly assigned.
  • After each swimming event is completed, the last two digits of the top three finishers will be used to determine the payouts.
    • Example – 1st Place 50 Free time is 24.19.  You use the 1 (tenths) on the BLUE portion of the bracket and move over to the 9 (hundredths) on the RED portion of the bracket to determine the winner.  The square where these numbers align is the winner.

Extra T-Shirts

The Pollock Family has donated about 60 t-shirts sporting the new team logo to our Booster Club. The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes. Each family will have their chance to pick ONE shirt on Monday or Tuesday at practice. On Wednesday, any shirts remaining will be available to anyone. A donation to the booster club for your shirt is optional. The kids are now receiving their team t-shirts that were made exclusively for kids and coaches. Kast-A-Way has not yet printed our red t-shirts, if you would like to order one I suggest you call today. These shirts are being printed on a light weight t-shirt from Sport Tek.

Coach of the Year

Dear Coach, Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are writing today on behalf of the upcoming feature film COACH OF THE YEAR: an independent, kid-friendly sports comedy feature film based on the inspiring true story of a rag tag swim team that tries to win a state championship…without a pool to practice in. Director Dave Stott, who has coached swimming for twenty years, hopes that with this film, we will entertain and inspire kids all over the country to learn to swim. Another goal of this film is to raise awareness about drowning as the leading cause of accidental deaths and to help kids all over the country learn to swim safely. The underdog story has been told before, but not for our sport. This is a movie for swimmers (and would-be swimmers), made by people who know the sport intimately and love it passionately, and we’d love for you to be involved. We wanted to ask you and your team to help spread the word about COACH OF THE YEAR, and get you & you

Is my child ready to swim meets?

We had a coaches discussion on this  - and yes, all of our Elite group swimmers are ready for meets.  Please look at the meet calendar and sign up for the days that you are available.  We will pick events that are appropriate for your swimmer.  We pick events that your child can do well and will build their confidence.  We also believe strongly in placing your child in events that will challenge them.  While we strive for excellence, making a mistake in an event is OK and can be a great learning experience.  Trying and failing is teaches a lot more  about your abilities than not trying at all.
