Spring & Summer Information

Buckeye Swim Club
Spring & Summer 2017 Practice Schedule and Fees

Hi Buckeyes!
Our spring & summer information is now available.  This includes the spring schedule, group & fee information.  The summer schedule is still being finalized but will be similar to last summer.
We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a one year agreement with the Sports Club for continued use of their facilities.  We continue to keep conversations open with MC Fitness although they have moved to a 12& over rental platform.
Our group system remains largely intact, with further delineation within each program.  This will help us give each swimmer the best training they need for their interests, age, and abilities.  Group recommendations were emailed through the Active Portal.
Note: Scarlet, Junior & Senior groups are competitive training programs with a focus on succeeding in USA Swimming competitions.  These groups are a spring AND summer commitment with an expectation that swimmers will compete in meets.
Our Silver program has less emphasis on competition and more emphasis on developing technique.  Thus, swimmers in the silver group can sign up for spring OR summer OR both.
Respond by March 15 please!
Returning swimmers simply email laurie@bkyswim.com with your interest in continuing with the club.  There is no registration fee for spring or summer.

Please feel free to call or email if you have questions or concerns.

Our Summer Competitive Season is April 16 to July 23, 2017
Spring Training ends June 2, 2017

All practices are at Columbus North Sports Club (888 E. Dublin Granville Rd) unless otherwise noted.

Extra T-Shirts

The Pollock Family has donated about 60 t-shirts sporting the new team logo to our Booster Club. The shirts come in a variety of colors and sizes. Each family will have their chance to pick ONE shirt on Monday or Tuesday at practice. On Wednesday, any shirts remaining will be available to anyone. A donation to the booster club for your shirt is optional. The kids are now receiving their team t-shirts that were made exclusively for kids and coaches. Kast-A-Way has not yet printed our red t-shirts, if you would like to order one I suggest you call today. These shirts are being printed on a light weight t-shirt from Sport Tek.

Coach of the Year

Dear Coach, Hope this email finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are writing today on behalf of the upcoming feature film COACH OF THE YEAR: an independent, kid-friendly sports comedy feature film based on the inspiring true story of a rag tag swim team that tries to win a state championship…without a pool to practice in. Director Dave Stott, who has coached swimming for twenty years, hopes that with this film, we will entertain and inspire kids all over the country to learn to swim. Another goal of this film is to raise awareness about drowning as the leading cause of accidental deaths and to help kids all over the country learn to swim safely. The underdog story has been told before, but not for our sport. This is a movie for swimmers (and would-be swimmers), made by people who know the sport intimately and love it passionately, and we’d love for you to be involved. We wanted to ask you and your team to help spread the word about COACH OF THE YEAR, and get you & you

Is my child ready to swim meets?

We had a coaches discussion on this  - and yes, all of our Elite group swimmers are ready for meets.  Please look at the meet calendar and sign up for the days that you are available.  We will pick events that are appropriate for your swimmer.  We pick events that your child can do well and will build their confidence.  We also believe strongly in placing your child in events that will challenge them.  While we strive for excellence, making a mistake in an event is OK and can be a great learning experience.  Trying and failing is teaches a lot more  about your abilities than not trying at all.
